happy 4th of july!

I had a nice mellow fourth of july watching the fireworks from the east bank esplanade with maggie and bruce (the bf, not the dad :). Maggie is in town and recovering from a nasty cold so we kept things low-key.





Oh and i saw WallE yesterday - such a good movie! I actually teared up a little - yes, animated robots made me cry.

Yes, it's for another flickr 'assignment'. Every Thursday is "Happy Aloha Thursday," a group started by a Hawaiian guy living in Nebraska who was a little homesick.

So I'm celebrating by wearing my super-cool knitted lei from Jenny (but on my head because it was a little too hot around my neck), shirt for Blue Planet (cool little surf shop where I've rented boards before when Jenny took me surfing) and my surfer girl bobble toy who is taking on the waves on my head.

I'm off to the Oregon coast with Bruce (and 20 of his friends!) for a camping trip and I'm hoping to brave the very cold Pacific for a little surf adventure. It's going to be perfect weather on the coast - in the 80s, which is VERY rare. Should be good times.

I thought I'd post some pics from my fun weekend roadtrip to Bend with Bruce. It was his nephew's 6th birthday as well as a 40.40404040404040 birthday party for a friend. It was a casino party and I discovered a love of roulette :)


We also hit the Deschutes Brewery (and Brewpub),

checked out the Balloons over Bend festival and Night Glow,

hung out with his family....good times all around.

And then on the way home, we stopped by Edgefield and did a little winetasting. Here's a pic of us being wine snobs and one of my arty-farty blurry wine bottle pics.

So I went to Bend for the weekend and came back a zombie....

Flickr is just so much fun. One of my flickr buddies - Jenn - (who I actually met in real life a couple weeks ago) picked the Flickr Group Roulette group for the day: Zombies Zombies Zombies. So here's my take - strawberry jam is quite effective!

More fun with flickr! Saturday's 'assignment' was "Me then, me now." I found a stash of great childhood pics that I brought back to Portland a couple Christmases ago. I had a tough time deciding which one to use but went with the 'shrieking on the couch' .

Here's the other one I thought about recreating but it would have been way too hard to find those mickey mouse sandals in my size nowadays. I'm thinking this was taken shortly after 'the big haircut' - poor maggie got sick of the continual hair combing battle and chopped all my hair off. I don't look too pleased, do I??

And one more trip down memory lane. Here's me playing with my donald duck parachute at Big Star Lake (thanks to mom for writing on the back of the photo :)
